Patient Involvement

PPG

Tyntesfield Medical Group are committed to patient involvement to ensure that they continue to best meet the needs of the patient population. They do this through:

  • An active Patient Participation Group (PPG).
  • Participating in the NHS ‘Friends & Family’ (F&F) surveys which are triggered by any clinical intervention and sent to patients via a text message. Access to the form online can be found here: Friends & Family Form (office.com)
  • Suggestion Boxes
  • Conducting periodic patient surveys. Results can be found here.

Non-urgent advice: WHAT IS THE PPG?

The PPG enables patients to have a participative voice in the services offered by the TMG. We are a friendly bunch and Membership is a great opportunity to influence services in our area. If you would like to be involved you can join our Patient Participation Group.

For more information you can email tmgppg@gmail.com, and you can read the group's Terms of Reference here.

Non-urgent advice: WHAT WE DO?

PPG Member Meetings: We hold up to 10 each year, on the 4th Tuesday of the month. Each meeting is attended by the TMG Operations Manager and a GP partner, so they are a good opportunity to find out what’s happening at TMG. They are normally attended by Nailsea Town Council’s (NTC) Wellbeing Officer, ensuring a wider understanding of local health and wellbeing activities. Patient suggestions are always discussed. Minutes of meetings can be found here: https://www.tyntesfield.nhs.uk/ppg-meeting-minutes

Health Events: In collaboration with the NTC Wellbeing Officer, we support local initiatives and assist TMG in holding patient-focused Health Events. We also run an annual stall at the Farmers’ Market to engage directly with patients.

We have established a Diabetes Club. This is now meeting every second month at 65 High Street at 11.00, on the second Tuesday. You can contact TMGPPG@gmail.com, or just turn up, see our Face Book Page

An Ostomy Group offering peer support for people with Stoma meets the second Tuesday of each month at 4.30 at 65 High Street. You can contact johnandjames4help@gmail.com for more information.

PPG Notice Boards are in each waiting room, along with the PPG Suggestion Boxes and forms. Please use these to leave general comments or suggestions for service improvement. Suggestions can also be sent online. https://www.tyntesfield.nhs.uk/ppg-suggestion-form All Suggestions are collected monthly and discussed at the PPG meeting with TMG. Suggestions and Responses are posted quarterly on the PPG Notice Boards.

Please note that ‘Suggestions’ is not the route for making complaints about treatment, service or a member of staff which must be taken up directly with TMG via Friends and Family or a formal complaint. See here for further information.

Additional thoughts and Comments.

We are members of the National Association for Patient Participation which helps us to work towards PPG best practice.

Non-urgent advice: WHO CAN JOIN?

Any adult patient registered with one of the 4 surgeries (Tower House, Brockway, Nailsea, Long Ashton and Backwell) can apply to join, with a maximum of 26 members.

We want to represent our patient population in terms of location, gender, age and disability. Sixth form students who are patients and are at either Nailsea or Backwell school can apply to become associate members to help us better reflect the younger patient group.

The application process is simple, forms can be found on the PPG notice boards in each waiting room or you can apply online.
