Patient Involvement

Tyntesfield Medical Group are committed to patient involvement to ensure that they continue to best meet the needs of the patient population. They do this through:

  • An active Patient Participation Group (PPG).
  • Participating in the NHS ‘Friends & Family’ (F&F) surveys which are triggered by any clinical intervention and sent to patients via a text message. Access to the form online can be found here: Friends & Family Form (office.com)
  • Suggestion Boxes
  • Conducting periodic patient surveys. Results can be found here.

Non-urgent advice: WHAT IS THE PPG?

The PPG enables patients to have a participative voice in the services offered by the TMG. We are a friendly bunch and Membership is a great opportunity to influence services in our area. If you would like to be involved you can join our Patient Participation Group.

For more information you can email tmgppg@gmail.com, and you can read the group's Terms of Reference here.

Non-urgent advice: WHO CAN JOIN?

Any patient registered with the 4 surgeries: Tower House, Nailsea; Brockway, Nailsea; Long Ashton and Backwell can join the PPG, up to a maximum of 26 members.

We are keen to be representative of our patient population in terms of location, gender, ethnicity, age, and disability. We actively encourage applications from patients in these groups.

There are forms on our PPG notice boards which you can complete and hand in, or you can complete the application form online.

Non-urgent advice: WHAT WE DO?

Monthly meetings enable PPG members to hear about developments from the practice and to ask questions or raise issues of concern. These meetings are attended by one of the practice managers and usually one of the GP partners. Patients can see Minutes of these meetings below.

We hold Health Events that are tailored to the needs of the local population. These are identified through working with TMG, also through working with objectives laid out by the Integrated Care Board with North Somerset issues in particular. We also work in line with Nailsea Town Council’s Wellbeing Strategy , and are receiving a grant from the town council towards our event programme. Slides and information from our events can be found here.

There is a PPG notice board in each practice where you can see more about the PPG. We also plan to produce periodic newsletters. There are Suggestion Boxes in each surgery, close to our Notice Boards, where patients can leave comments or suggestions for improvements; we collect these monthly and raise the issues with TMG. You can also find a suggestion form online here

(Please note, formal complaints must not be sent via the Suggestion Boxes.)

We aim to work with TMG to elicit patient feedback and to communicate the survey results. The Friends and Family Survey Form can be found here: Friends & Family Form (office.com)

We are members of the National Association for Patient Participatoon which helps us to work towards PPG best practice.

Our chairman, Richard Rogers, also attends the North Somerset regional group of PPGs where they share experience and best practice.
