Clinical Pharmacist

12 month maternity cover, up to 37.5hrs per week

Hourly rate – dependent on experience


A new opportunity has arisen to join our proactive forward thinking practice based on the outskirts of Bristol.


Tyntesfield Medical Group is a large Primary Care Network comprising of four Surgery’s (Brockway Medical Centre, Long Ashton Surgery, Backwell and Tower House Medical Centre). Our four practices merged in 2016 and represents all that is special about primary care.


We have established an award-nominated centralised Prescribing Hub staffed by a team of dedicated prescription clerks who deal with routine prescription requests and medicines reconciliation. The successful candidate will support the day-to-day management of the Prescription Hub in addition to completing patient-centred Structured Medication Reviews and ensuring the delivery of prescribing quality improvement projects.


As part of our multi-disciplinary team you will:

  • have a GP partner clinical mentor and support from the local community education provider network as well as a bespoke training package
  • undertake structured medication reviews, in particular to proactively manage patients with complex polypharmacy and frailty
  • provide support to general practice staff in relation to prescription and medication queries, ensuring safe and cost-effective medicines management for our patients
  • provide clinical leadership on medicines optimisation and quality improvement including managing some aspects of the Quality and Outcomes Framework prescribing safety indicators and CCG prescribing incentive scheme
  • be offered regular in house education events to develop your clinical knowledge


We would welcome applications from pharmacists working in all sectors of pharmacy, with a minimum of 2 years post graduate experience. The successful candidate will have a degree in pharmacy, a post-graduate diploma in clinical pharmacy and an independent prescribing qualification are both desirable. The successful candidate is required to work across all the four practices.
