Non NHS Services

Non-urgent advice: What are non-NHS services?

Some services provided are not covered under our contract with the NHS and therefore are chargeable. Examples include the following:

  • Medicals for pre-employment, sports and driving requirements (HGV, PSV etc.)
  • Insurance claim forms
  • Prescriptions for taking medication abroad
  • Private sick notes
  • Vaccination certificates

The fees charged are based on the British Medical Association (BMA) suggested scales and our reception staff will be happy to advise you about them along with appointment availability. Please do check with reception before booking an appointment and please note that payment will be required upfront before the appointment.

Non-urgent advice: To Whom It May Concern (TWIMC) Letters

A TWIMC letter is a simple letter from your GP that confirms factual information already recorded in your medical notes.

Please read the guidance below before submitting your request:

When a TWIMC Letter is not needed:

  • Check the NHS App
    • Many patients find the information they need — such as test results, diagnoses, medication lists, and immunisations — already available on the NHS App.

  • Requests related to hospital care
    • If your request relates to a condition managed by a hospital specialist, you will need to request this from specialist team.  They hold the most up to date information for you.

  • Insurance claims
    • For insurance, mortgage, or legal claims, the organisation will contact the GP practice directly using their own forms. A TWIMC letter is not required.

What the GP Can Provide:

  • The GP can only provide factual information that is already written in your medical record.

  • GPs cannot provide opinions, predictions, or statements that are not documented.

What We Need from You:

  • Clear details of your request. Please tell us exactly what information you need included in the letter. Vague or broad requests may delay processing.

  • TWIMC letters are non NHS services and incur a fee depending on practice policy.
